Many times the average used car purchaser will shop at several dealerships until they find the car that meets their needs.  Then, after considering available capital, if financially responsible, and/or checking their available credit, they will begin negotiations with the salesperson expecting him to come down maybe a couple hundred dollars as a sort of token of good will.  What the purchaser doesn't realize is that the "sticker price" even on a used car is several thousand above what the dealer can, and will, sell his car for.  If the purchaser considers himself diligent and thorough he will have checked the popular Kelly Blue Book, NADA, or Edmunds book values.  What he also needs to realize is that the salesperson would just love to make a sale several thousand below retail value, and would at the same time be putting a wad of cash in his own pocket.  Ok, if you are shopping on eBay and looking here, then you are not the average Joe six pack; rather, you are likely one of the truly financially savvy used car buyers! Congrats! You've come to the right place!

Ok, Ok, so my advice to you is, yes, do your homework, look at all three of the used car book value sites mentioned earlier, but expect to pay somewhere between dealer trade in and private party values leaning towards dealer trade in.  Consider anything more than this a bonus for the salesperson.

As a dealership specializing in eBay sales, we don't expect to make thousands on each vehicle, neither do we expect on a trade to allow several thousand more than the car is actually worth!

We also offer a brokering service.  We have access to online listings of wholesale, dealer auctions across the USA.  If you give us a precise description of what you are looking for we can usually find it within a couple of weeks.  We charge $500 or 5%, whichever is greater, over what we have in it after auction fees and any maintenance/etc., inspection cost that we incur.  To a savvy used car buyer that is an option you can work with!
